Maxalt is a selective serotonin receptor agonist. This product narrowes dilated blood vessels in the brain, and relieves migraine headaches. This product is not confirmed to prevent cluster headaches or migraines.
Follow your health care provider’s advices.
Ingest Maxalt with a large amount of water (a glass). Take a dose of this product when migraine symptoms occur. A second dose may be taken not sooner then 2 hours after the first dose, and if there is just a partial response or migraine return. Never exceed the dosage of 30 mg per 24 hours. Maxalt is usually taken three times per day (every 8 hours).

Maxalt Safety Information
In case of missing a dose of Maxalt, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's almost time for your net dose, take only that one, and return to your usual schedule. Simply skip the missed dose. Never take a double dose at once.
Keep Maxalt protected from moisture, heat and light, at the room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Keep this product in place inaccessible for children, away from pets.
Do not take Maxalt if you have an allergy to any of this product’s components. Do not use this product if you have a history of uncontrolled high blood pressure, blood flow or heart conditions, chest pain, ischemic heart disease, irregular heartbeat, stroke.
You should not be treating with Maxalt in case you use ergot alkaloids (e.g., ergotamine) or have been treating with a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) (e.g., phenelzine) within the last 14 days; or if you have taken another serotonin receptor agonist (e.g., sumatriptan) within the last 24 hours.
Consult with your health care specialist immediately, if you these health states apply to you.
Maxalt Side Effects
Among the side effects that can be caused by Maxalt usage are sleepiness and vertigo.
These effects may be added and worsen in case if you use Maxalt simultaneously with certain medicines and with alcohol.
Do not drive, operate machinery or perform any activities, requiring high level of attention, before you find out your reaction to the Maxalt. Use this product with caution.
Maxalt is not supposed to prevent or decrease the number of migraine attacks. If you experience a headache that differs from usual migraine attacks, consult with your health care provider before using Maxalt.
Patients, suffering from diabetes, should use this product with a special caution. Maxalt may affect your blood sugar. Test blood sugar levels attentively. Consult with a health care specialist before you change the diabetes medicine dose.
Do not use Rizatriptan in children under18. This medicine's influence on children and safety for them has not been approved.
Consult with a health care provider in case of pregnancy. Risks and benefits of taking this medication during the pregnancy and breast-feeding period should be closely discussed. The absorption into the breast milk has not been researched.
Consult with your health care specialist in case if the most common side effects are continuous, and if they bother you too much: sleepiness, vertigo, weakness, nausea, apathy, diarrhea.
Contact health care provider immediately if you experience any of these severe side effects: fainting or unsteadiness; unusual weakness; bloody diarrhea; changes in vision; chest pain, pressure or heaviness; quicken or irregular heartbeat; cold, tingling, or numb hands or feet; pain or tightness in jaw or neck; stomach pain. Seek medical attention immediately also if you have severe allergic reactions (rash; difficulty breathing; hives; tightness in the chest; mouth, face, lips, or tongue swelling; rash).
If your condition does not improve or if symptoms worsen, consult your health care specialist.
Rizatriptan should be used only in case of doctor's prescription. Do not share it with others.
