The Carisoprodol's treating mechanism provides blocking of electrical communication among nerves in the reticular formation of the brain. It also blocks this kind of communication in the spinal cord.
Soma is usually taken three times per day and before going to bed by one tablet (350 mg). Children under 12 years should not be treated with this product. To prevent the stomach disorder, take Carisoprodol with milk or food.
Soma Safety Information
In case of missing a dose of Carisoprodol, take it during the next hour or so. If you remembered about it later, skip that dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose of Soma at once.
Keep Carisoprodol in a compactly closed container. Store this medicine at room temperature between 15 - 30 degrees C (59 degrees F).
Inform your health care provider before Soma's usage, if you suffer from kidney or liver disease. Probably, you will require a lower prescribed dose and remain under special doctor's control during the treatment. You should not be treated with Carisoprodol if you have acute intermittent porphyria.
The chance of Carisoprodol's absorption into breast milk has not been determined. If you are breast-feeding do not start taking this medicine without consulting with a health care provider. In case of pregnancy talk to your doctor before you start Carisoprodol therapy. Children under 12 years should not be treated with Soma.
Soma Side effects
Carisoprodol therapy may cause agitation, headache, fainting, irritancy, sleep loss, apathy, tremble, ataxia, vertigo.
Some patients have idiosyncratic or allergic reactions to the Soma. These side effects can be usually noticed between the first and the 4th doses, if the patient had never been treated with this medicine before.
Among the side effects, caused by Carisoprodol usage may also occur erythema multiforme, eosinophilia, drug rash with cross reaction to meprobamate, skin rash.
Among the severe reactions to Soma may be fever, weakness, asthmatic episodes, dizziness, angioneurotic edema, anaphylactoid shock, smarting eyes, hypotension.
Carisoprodol can also be combined with rest and physical therapy for treating different painful musculoskeletal conditions and injuries.
