Zanaflex is muscle relaxant that helps from muscle spasms. The effect of Zanaflex strats from1 to 2 hours after each dose and is over within 3 to 6 hours. For this reason, schedule the doses for shortly before the daily activities when relief of spasticity is most important.
The most important thing you should know about Zanaflex is that it causes drowsiness in almost half the people who use it and it is able to reduce blood pressure in many people. The drop of blood pressure often leads to dizziness and light-headedness. However this dizziness is not very significant. The likelihood of significant drowsiness increases when Zanaflex is combined with such medications as Klonopin, Lioresal, and Valium.
Zanaflex should be accepted exactly as directed. The danger of side effects increases if you overdose. That is why doses should be taken only as needed. Allow 6 to 8 hours between doses. Take no more than 3 a day.
Store Zanaflex at room temperature away from light and heat. It is extremely important to keep such medications as Zanaflex far from children and pets.

If you know that you have allergic reaction to Zanaflex or any of its components, tell your doctor and do not take Zanaflex.
The total dose of Zanaflex should not be more than 24 milligrams a day. A single dose must not exceed 8 milligrams. Zanaflex should not be taken for longer than it is prescribed.
It is important to know that oral contraceptives boost the amount of Zanaflex in the body. Tell your doctor if you use oral contraceptives.
If you have problems with liver, tell your doctor before taking Zanaflex. Notify your doctor as soon as you can if you develop signs of a liver problem such as loss of appetite, vomiting, nausea, or yellow skin or eyes. Do this because Zanaflex has been known to cause liver injury in a few patients.
If you have a kidney problem, t will be necessary to reduced dose of Zanaflex.
Zanaflex has not been tested in children. Do not use it for individuals younger than 18 years old.
Do not take alcohol during treatment with Zanaflex.
